Project Description
Surgery
At Positive Pet Mobile Vet we only practice out in people’s home. This means we do not do any surgery ourselves.
So whether your pet requires preventative surgery (e.g. neutering), surgery for treatment or investigation (e.g. dental or lumps) or emergency surgery your pet will have to go into the clinic. Hopefully this is a very rare occurrence! For these surgeries we work with Lime Trees Veterinary Clinic in Cheadle and Meir Park.
Once home again care can continue at home with post-op checks in the home environment to limit the stress for your pet but also the hassle of having to move them, especially when they are recovering from surgery.
Dr Katie can also offer a pre-surgery consult to help you and your pet cope in the post-operative period. Many guardians and pets find the rest period very difficult after surgery. Some orthopaedic surgeries will need 6-8 weeks of rest (no walks or running around at home!). Having some training in advance so you and your pet know what to do when movement is limited can make the whole thing a lot easier. Obviously these are only suitable for non-emergency surgeries, but some insurance companies will cover the cost of these consults and training sessions along with the surgery itself.
Whatever the case your pet will receive top level care throughout the process.
“Katie does a fantastic job, obviously understands the needs of a very stressed out dog.”

These visits are also often stressful for people, can be inconvenient times and difficult to get to if you don’t have access to transport. Instead at home you don’t have to worry about time wasted travelling or waiting in the waiting room. You can get on with your life at home and Dr Katie will arrive and start the consult straight away.
In the clinic you will often be allocated only a 10 minute appointment which is a rush to fit in history taking, clinical exam, treatment, questions and history writing!
